| No Bluff was recorded not long after Bluff. We were quite happy with Bluff so we wanted to see if we could do it again. We did it the same way; no songs brought in and we wrote as the session went. We holed up here for a week at Four Dog Studios and worked around the clock, for Adam was due to make a movie so we had little time. 'Inject' was the first song we did. It started out like a rock song but every turn made the thing darker. It is one of my favorites. Adam wanted to scrap 'Feel' because he said it sounded like OZZY, I was thrilled about that comment. 'Drive' took Adam forever to do the vocals to get the timing right. 'Seaward' was about him going off to do the movie (you ask him), sounding kind of like a deckhands' sea song. 'Fleas' was my A and E song, my best, favorite and only chords I know well. Adam was very 'up' for the session, excited about his upcoming role. To me Bluff and No Bluff could be one record because they have the same flow I guess. What I remember most is him singing '...socks in my shoes...' for 2 days over and over and over. Seems like a long time ago. |
