| Dehesa Electric's 'Four' opens up with 'Who's Jenny?', a very up-beat song that always seems to end too soon. 'I Said It Before' is a moody track; in the verses it is a very serious song, both musically and lyrically, but the mood lifts triumphantly in the refrain. A love song, if you will. 'I Said It Before' is featured in our documentary video 'Dehesa Electric - In The Studio'. It can be seen on this website using the above 'videos' button. 'September' is one of those very few D.E. songs on which you will not hear guitar, and on which we used a synth bass. This track tends to be a favorite with some listeners. It is featured in our short film 'Sumo'. At this point in time, at 6 albums under our belt, 'Never Leave' is often my favorite track. If you haven't heard it, check it out by getting this CD or by watching the music video. We recorded two versions of this song, the difference being some of the vocals. 'Woman I See' is another one of those D.E. rareties on which you will hear only drum machines, synths and vocals. But even without rockin' guitars, it manages to hit pretty hard in the D.E. rock'n'roll fashion. 'The Plan'; this is a long, swingin' track which we wrote and recorded during a big, wet, thunderstorm. Rain can be heard on the track (we almost lost a microphone to it; water and electronics don't go well together). Lastly, 'Begin Again' is an acoustic number written about the same time as 'The Plan'. Overall, 'Four' is a well-rounded, eclectic album. It manages to go to many different places, without losing its identity as a journey that is being taken by the same traveller. Adam. |
